HI. My name is Tony Curl and I have a real concern with the State of Men's Health. I know so many of my friends and mates, and see hundreds of others that carry that extra weight around their guts. The badge of honour called a Beer Gut. Unhealthy is a nice way to say it. An absolute killer is another. I want everyone to know my story and for you to realise that YOU can change your life and improve your health. Transform your life, all you need is the desire to change.
Please read MY STORY first, then click through the pages. Would love to hear from others and only too willing to help anyone who takes the step to help themselves. Overall I have lost over 29kg, transformed my life and now have kept it off for over twelve months. The proof that you can still drink beer and transform your body.

Back on the Horse

Sometime good intentions, just aren't enough. I knew that I had put on a few kilos over winter. Out of routine, too many workshops/meetings. Too many social engagements. I had noticed the pants getting tighter and a return of the love handles. When I put on weight, it tends to go right to the love handles.

So when I jumped on the scales this week, for the first time in two months, the few kilos had been joined by a couple more.So time to get serious, as well as to have a bit of fun. I have had a fully compliant BT nutrition week, walked every morning at 4.40am, got in a couple of night walks and exercised through the resistance bands and FOUR AFD's. No mideweek beers. Two kilos, gone in my first week of BACK on TRACK.

Lessons.Weigh in Weekly for here on in. Easy to get rid of two kilos then six. Stay compliant and in control. Get the activity happening...this was my biggest downfall.Too cold for morning walks, easier to stay in bed. Time to shift that junk, now before summer gets here.

Spring in the Air

I spend some time on the Bodytrim forum, and the activity on this forum, especially the Bodysculpt forum, has certainly increased markedly. Spring is certainly in the air, and it shows with the week I am having. Having a great week with full compliance. AFD's are happening and will five for the week; 10,000 steps are happening with morning and afternoon walks. Even had a go at Zumba, which was fun and uncoordinated. Spring is in the air and the battle to remove the bulge around the belly is on for men everywhere. Keep at it guys, discipline and focus and lets get out there this summer and mow our yards without shirts......That could become our aim and objective for the guys out there. Time to get rid of the gut.

How do you Kickstart your Morning?

How does everyone kickstart their morning? A cup of coffee would be an obvious one: others may just get up and get going; others skip breakfast. One thing I know, is that breakfast is a must, and to kickstart your metabolism, best eaten within one hour of waking. So how do I kickstart my morning for best results?

I get up and immediately get dressed into some comfy clothes. I drink a sugar free energy drink and go for a walk. A black coffee would do the same. A 30 minute walk follows and on my return eat a breakfast with protein as its main source. This allows me a great start to my day, I get energy from the activity, the caffeine allows me to burn fat, and then breakfast fuels the body until its next food three hours later.

Others might start reaching for a sugary snack to boost energy mid-morning, I am reaching for a protein snack, still full of beans. So how do you kickstart your morning?

New Study Finds Low-Carb Diet Better for the Heart

I have stumbled upon this article, and article that rings true with me due to the results I have had following a Low Carb Diet. Here is the actual link for the article, but I have also reproduced it below. http://www.naturaltherapypages.com.au/article/New_Study_Finds_Low_Carb_Diet_Better_For_The_Heart

New research has found that a low-carbohydrate diet may be better for our cardiovascular health than a low-fat diet. The two-year study, out of the Centre for Obesity Research and Education at Temple University in Philadelphia, found that people who followed a low-carb diet experienced lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels than those on low-fat diets.

Looking Ahead

When times get tough, it is necessary to be able to visualise where you are heading and to re-focus. After a couple of tough weeks (well months really) I am in the middle of my stocktake week. What this means is that I need to be in control of my nutrition, if I am to stand a chance at coming out the other end. In a week where long hours and meals on the run is the norm, the very real chance is there to absolutely blow your nutrition and create some habits that may be a bit tough to break.

So ensure during these weeks, (and we all endure them in some way shape or form) that we stick to some of the basics. Eating a good protein based breakfast and ensuring that your activity remains are good starts.Keep your protein based snacks up and even then if you do indulge in some ordinary nutrition for lunch, it won't be as punishing. Stick to some sort of routine and then when the week/month is over, it isn't so hard to get back into your regime.

I know some people, who once they have "blown" a day by eating wrong or not getting activity, they tend to completely blow the day. Your philosphy should be to thing next meal, get back on track. It really isn't that hard. Keep your chin up

Cheers
