HI. My name is Tony Curl and I have a real concern with the State of Men's Health. I know so many of my friends and mates, and see hundreds of others that carry that extra weight around their guts. The badge of honour called a Beer Gut. Unhealthy is a nice way to say it. An absolute killer is another. I want everyone to know my story and for you to realise that YOU can change your life and improve your health. Transform your life, all you need is the desire to change.
Please read MY STORY first, then click through the pages. Would love to hear from others and only too willing to help anyone who takes the step to help themselves. Overall I have lost over 29kg, transformed my life and now have kept it off for over twelve months. The proof that you can still drink beer and transform your body.

Survival Tips

This blog is another way for me to ensure that I remain successful in keeping my weight in control. I will use this blog to update others on my continuing progress. As I now feel I am at goal weight, the challenge to remain motivated is there. I hope this blog will be useful to others, as I know it will be successful for me.

First survival Tip.

Watch what you snack on when having a beer with mates. The chances are that Potato Chips, deep fried stuff, pizza or a late night kebab may have been a staple diet when having beers with mates. My guess is that the snacks we eat while having a beer contribute greatly to our guts. So what do I do. I ensure I have some snacks that are high in protein and low in Carbohydrates. Pork Crackles is a great snack and readily available from Woolies. Also if I am going to snack on nuts, I ensure a selection of Almonds, Cashews, Brazil Nuts and Walnuts. Higher in fat than I would like, but maintaining the principles of High Protein and Low Carb.

Second Survival Tip.

I know a guy, for the sake of the story let's call him Andy, who has one big meal a day. He believes that by doing this, he can drink a six-pack a day. At the end of the day, this thinking is flawed and you probably guessed it, Andy has a gut. Now my guess is that his metabolism has just about ground to a halt. His body is being starved daily and is storing fat. He needs to kickstart his metabolism. Once his metabolism is going and he raises his activity levels, he actually gives himself a chance of having a daily beer. Maybe not a six-pack. So how do you kickstart a metabolism. Well it is easier than what it seems. Fuel your body different. There are some old sayings like, Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and Dinner like a pauper. That could work. What has worked for me is smaller meals, more often. I follow the rules set out in Bodytrim, so I usually eat up to six times a day, sometimes as much as 7. Less fuel, more often. Less likely to store fat and more likely to burn fat.

Third Survival Tip

You have made the choice to change and you want to have your cake and eat it it. That is, drink beer and lose weight. You do need to start somewhere. In my story I talk about at least FOUR alcohol free days a week. To get started successfully you probably need to run at least FIVE for the first month. And please don't go overboard for the two allowed days. A funny thing should happen. Once you start seeing success on the scales, you actually become less inclined to want to over-indulge....TRUST ME this happens. Especially if you are finding the additional activity as a viable way of winding down and dealing with life. But fun can happen, as soon as your body starts to adjust to your new regime, and your metabolism winds up. Suddenly you can have the odd occasional blow out on the turps. And as long as you are educated, you know exactly how to deal with any excess stuff you may have stored. So get disciplined, make the change, reap the rewards later.

Fourth Survival Tip

The fact is team, to have your cake and eat it too, needs to have a bit of a "Pay it forward" program. Be disciplined in your approach when  you can. During the week, eat well and increase activity and exercise and get your AFD's in. On a weekend you can then relax. What you will see starting to happen, is the ability to play up will decrease for two reasons...you don't want to undo the good work you've done, and your body is adjusting to the new regime. Either way, it is to your benefit that you do this.
