HI. My name is Tony Curl and I have a real concern with the State of Men's Health. I know so many of my friends and mates, and see hundreds of others that carry that extra weight around their guts. The badge of honour called a Beer Gut. Unhealthy is a nice way to say it. An absolute killer is another. I want everyone to know my story and for you to realise that YOU can change your life and improve your health. Transform your life, all you need is the desire to change.
Please read MY STORY first, then click through the pages. Would love to hear from others and only too willing to help anyone who takes the step to help themselves. Overall I have lost over 29kg, transformed my life and now have kept it off for over twelve months. The proof that you can still drink beer and transform your body.

47 Today and Loving It.

I'm 47 today and just had to add to me blog. Still sitting here weighing what I did when I left school in 1983. I'm part of the organising committee for our grades 30 year reunion and pretty pumped that my mindset and body are one and the same from when I first met my school buddies. You can do this too.

Manly Gone!!

Manly have said goodbye to NRL 2012 being smashed 40-12 by the Melbourne Storm at AAMI park in front of a crowd over 25,000. Manly have been described as ordinary, but the Melbourne Storm were methodical and covered everything that Manly even looked like bringing to the table.

So Melbourne are the first team through to the Big Dance, and just who will join them. Whoever it is.....they have a big task to knock over this Storm outfit.

Day 3 of the Blitz

Hi Team. I'm on Day 3 of the BT Bodysculpt 6 week Blitz and I'm feeling fantastic. Sculpting resistance bands sessions combined with adding some good fats into my diet every 72hours, is making me feel on top of the world. I have just finished breakfast on day 3 and getting ready to charge into the day ahead, as I have already done my 40 minute walk. I'm ready to go.

And just for the record...I'm day 10 now alcohol free as I am committed to getting this extra baggage off. Charge on!

BT Bodysculpt 6 Week Blitz

Ok...So here we are midway through 2012 and I have experienced a three week vacation to the USofA, as well as taken on a new job role. Accordingly, I haven't looked after myself as much as I could have and I certainly enjoyed the Pale Ales and IPA's available in America.

To that end, I have joined up with a group of Bodytrim Legends and devotees, to smash out a six week Blitz on Bodysculpt, to drop the kilos gained and to get me back into the shape that I want to be, as per picture above taken mid-2011.

Current weight is 92.9 and Body Fat is 21.6% and I look forward to sharing my results as I progress. It has now been a week without a beer and 42 days to go, before I have my next.

If you want to jump on board, just throw me a line.

Cheers
Curly

It's All in the Bloods

Well, the best thing about being healthy, is the way you feel about yourself. But occasionally, its so good to good external support for the new healthy you. I got results from a blood test today that really highlights the transformation that I have embarked on.

The new blood tests compared against three other tests conducted over the last seven years. I am proud to post the following results and improvements on my bloods since getting real and healthy.

The worst Cholesterol result over the last results was a high of 5.9. My current result is 4.8. 5.9 is scary, 4.8 is cool.  The good cholesterol at its worst was 0.8, now its sits at 1.9 (which I am told is a little high). My triglycerides, which is the fatty crap in your blood, at its worst sat at 3.5, which is high. Now its sits at 0.5. I am told that, that is a little low. My Chol/HDL Ratio now sits at 2.5, but it was as high as 6.6. They tell me that this is the Cardiac Arrest ratio. My doctor says, Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.....I Plan to. According to the Cardiovascular Risk, I sit at 2% of having a stroke/heart attack in the next five years. I like those odds.

To ascertain your own risk......http://www.cvdcheck.org.au

Guys, if there is any other information you need, to change your life....the chance to live longer is it! A heart attack at 50, or living life like a young fella like I think I am. I am so glad I made the choice just a couple of years back and my life is so much better than it has been. I thank Bodytrim, but I also thank me, for doing the hard stuff.  Guys its worth it.

Failure is not Fatal!!!

"This home is in the possession of the mortgagee exercising power of sale"

We saw this sign this morning posted to a window on a smart little house as we did our morning walk. The house was tidy and had a solar power installed, air conditioning along with other improvements. We thought about the young family that the house was ideal for, the pride and joy in their first home, and wondered about the catastrophe in life, that caused them to default their home loan. And it got me thinking........

Extreme things can happen to people. Marriage Breakups, freak accidents, tough times, work issues etc.......But how many times have we been hit for six by something, and couldn't see our way out. Life can be tough at times, and how we face these challenges make us who we are. Do we face them alone, do we take charge, to do confide in trusted allies...DO WE GET UP!

Do you know someone who has stayed down? The mark of a person is not how successful they are, its how they respond when things aren't going their way. Do they stand and fight or surrender and let the world win. Its how many times we get back up, that counts. Successful people, never win 100% of the time. They ultimately win, because of how they respond to their losses and what they learn.

In weight transformation its the same. Have we slipped up occasionally? Probably all of us have. How did we respond? Did we defeat ourselves? Was it all to hard? OR did we dust ourselves off and get back on track immediately?

The choice is ultimately YOURS. YOU CHOOSE. Don't let others/events take that control out of your hands. There is no use blaming others, on your way to an early grave. See your way out....have your vision.....charge on to be the very best you can be.

Cheers
Curly

Xmas Excess

Image: luigi diamanti / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Christmas has not been kind to me and the scales have shown that I am at my heaviest that I have been for over 2 years. Over 89kg, and while I certainly enjoyed myself, I acknowledge that I feel I have let myself down.

I am ready to focus from Mid-January, when I return from holidays and then I need to be more disciplined once I have churned through the additional weight.

I could use excuses......I changed stores, my mum passed away, I lost a lot of close things through some personal dramas.....but at the end of the day, no excuses for being unhealthy.

I will use this blog to maintain my focus and live up to what I say I will. I will also use the Bodytrim forum to post results. It is simply about getting some discipline back into my life, and look out for number 1.

Follow my progress here.

AWOL

Team,
Sorry I have been a bit AWOL recently. I hope this post will explain some of the reasons and I also hope that it provides some inspiration for what you can achieve once you have really committed to the BT lifestyle.

My life is at constant upheaval at the moment with huge moments of bittersweet. Over the last few weeks I have had the following:
- My 20th Wedding Anniversary
- My mum being put into palliative care with cancer on the liver, bowel, stomach and lungs
- My daughter graduating from High School

Been a bit busy lately...well actually for a long time it seems with a fair bit of my mind and working through some personal and work issues that have confronted me.

With all that, I signed up and committed to the BODYTRIM challenge with some huge prizes on . Focussed and supporting the BT team in the way of a weekly blog, I am hoping that this again consolidates BT as one of the best ways to drop weight and support a healthy weight. I get excited of the thousands of people doing this challenge and taking steps towards reaching their own goals.

So if you are looking for some additional motivation, click on the image above and lose your way towards some great prizes and more importantly, a better you!!!

Spring Update

Unfortunately at times, life gets hold of you, grabs you by the throat and slams you sideways against the wall. If you hit the deck at these times, the likelihood is that life can sometimes put its foot on your throat and go in for a killer punch. Life as you know, suddenly changes..... and you need to deal with it.

Thats was the scenario that I faced as I squared off with pressures at work and potentially a personal crisis. I achieved my goal and aims, reduced down to 82kg again, increased muscel tone and generally pumped about life in general.

I then took a break for a week to hit the ground running again, which seemed to be a great idea. This week caused some breakdowns at work and personal, which I've had no other option but to deal with them. This has caused me to put my own well-being at a secondary level for the last ten days. There is some light at the end of the tunnel and I see a resolution of both issues over the next week.

I understand that Bodytrim are just about to launch a new 12 week challenge process and I am looking forward to being involved if needed. Things will be sweet, and as soon as I jump over these hurdles....I'll be back. Till then my friends, Curly

Almost There!

Can I just say, I enjoy the path that I have chosen. I look forward to my exercise sessions daily, and even enjoy getting up at 4.30 to get a 30 minute walk in every morning. I understand what food I can eat without gain and how much. And all of this due to the education that Bodytrim has given me.

Take today for example. Walked in the morning, did a small boxing session in the afternoon followed by a walk, and after SIX AFD's, am currently sitting here enjoying a beer and looking forward to the Qld Derby League Game with the Cowboys hosting the Broncos on Friday Night Footy.

And what makes it even better....knowing that I have been very good and continuing the good work that I have been doing. You can enjoy life, and do the right thing for yourself. Show some discipline and you can enjoy the fruits of your work. Enjoy your weekend...Go the Dragons and the Hawks and see you all next week.

Feeling Fit, Looking Fit, Getting Feedback

Can I tell you, I feel great. The weight continues to slide off me, and more importantly my muscle tone and body structure continues to improve. I saw a guy today, who works within my company, who I hadn't seen for a number of weeks. He is undergoing a "Lite N Easy" transformation, but his initial comment to me was "Curly, you are looking so fit" What feedback.....I have been this weight (Under 88kg or thereabouts) since June 2009, so in some respect you expect people to be used to how you look now. I feel great that I am challenging myself and that my body shape continues to evolve in a positive sense. I enjoy being fit, I enjoy being healthy and I still get a kick out of great feedback.....

Just remember please, this starts with one simple change. And builds, and builds and builds. Want this journey? Its actually yours for the taking....all you have to do is make the choice.

Life Changing

Over the last couple of years, I have met some amazing people through my support of the Bodytrim program. I keep in contact with these via popular social networking programs, and get amazed at how their lives are lived nowadays and the changes that has happened. I feel a real sense of pride in knowing these amazing people, and cannot help but think about how their lives have changed. The latest is a young lady who has ultimately lost 60 kilos, and her latest adventure and project was completing an 11 kilometre Fun Run. Going through her head as she completed this latest objective, surely was the incredible and inspirational journey she has embarked on. And one of the greatest senses of satisfaction is that they are undertaking these journeys for themselves. No television cameras monitor their every move, no personal trainers at their beck and call. Just a desire to lose some weight, and then in the process start to enjoy life again and then the stretch begins on what they really want out of life. Exercise and health becomes the focus, after the education on how to lose their weight. They enjoy life in s many ways, and continue with some of their vices, but understand what is needed for them to ensure that vices do not take control.

In all cases, these journeys started with one step....and that one step was achieved only after a real desire for change. Are you prepared to take that step??

Would the Boy You Were.......

It has been a while since I last blogged, but a lot has changed. I guess I got into the mindspace, that enough has been spoken, now was the time for action. Since my last blog, I have dropped body fat, and sit back under the 84kg, which I was in Sept 2009, built some more muscle mass and feeling absolutely unbelievable. Additionally I took the time to get my first tattoos. Above you can see the one on the inside of my bicep.

"Would the Boy you were, be proud of the man you've become!"

I have been asked the question, as to why no question mark....too me this is a statement or a philosophy.  Maybe even an attitude. As a child, you are filled with wild eyes innocence with dreams and aspirations, and you looked up to people who you respected. Would I be that person? I reckon if I live my life in such a way, I may just be. Fair, Tolerant, healthy.

My workload to drop the excess baggage I was carrying was a combination of the Bodytrim/Bodysculpt nutrition with a changed approach to having a beer.FIVE alcohol free days, with just a couple of those days. Workouts included the Bodysculpt program, as well as some Cardio Boxing and simply walking. I have also been working on my abs and core muscles. I have dropped five cms around the waist also, which is the most pleasing for me and seeing the lurve handles getting smaller.

My life is changing again as is my outlook. I feel young and fresh! The tattoo above was my second. The first one sits on my left chest just above the heart.

THE MIGHTY DRAGONS.

Planning a couple more, but most pressing for me is to drop another couple of kilos and smash those handles completely. Another 3-4 weeks of intense weight loss should see me hit the under 80kg number that I again am striving for. I will keep everyone updated and will post some pictures at the end. Remember, all it really takes is the mindset to change.....Anything is possible.

Bad Week Continues

I have had a bad week after a promising start to dropping my kilos. The change of seasons, caught me unawares and I have been waylaid with the flu and aching muscles now for over a week. I have tried to keep my exercise up, but work has been full of late nights as well, so the exercise consistency just hasn't been there.

I don't know what it is, but when I feel sick, I really do crave sweet things and it takes the toughest discipline to ensure that I don't cave in. I am hopeful of getting through this week, and getting back to something the resembles full health, and then kick-starting the process again.

I hope everyone is feeling better than I.

Back In......

I am really happy with my progress this week. Nutritionally I have been good, with a minor hiccup at a Business Planning day, but from an exercise front I have been outstanding. I have had all my allocated resistance exercises sessions, ran 5km most days and ensured I got my early morning walk in every day.

I am feeling very good, but the test comes this weekend with a plethora of footy options challenging my desire to be alcohol free for the next four weeks at least. This will definitely be a test for my discipline, but I know that my support network will be good for me..... I will post weigh-in results over the next couple of days.

Time for a Refocus

On of the things I have been very conscious of during the emotional roller coaster of re-opening my store, was to ensure I catered for the time, when the adrenalin would stop and normality would return to some degree. I stand before you today, to simply state that I haven't done this as well as I expected. To be 100% honest, I have returned to my old ways of having a beer most nights to get that buzz and energy, that was so obvious during our rebuild.

The difference is today, I can recognise that it must stop, and my two weeks of fun, now have to be replaced by a resolve and a desire to get my life back. Also adding to the mix, was an addition to my emotional life, an addition that helped me get through some stuff, but an addition that is now proving to be counterproductive. As they say in the classics, you have to know when to walk away, and that is what I am going to do.

Today is, Draw the Line in the sand day, as I refocus on me. I have allowed others and events to dictate my path, and today is the clear vision day. For the remainder of this week, there will be no alcohol drunk. For the remainder of this week, I will return to my nutritional base of Three Meals and Three Snacks. I will get my exercise in daily and return to my resistance workouts.

Once back to normal, my son and I are going to do a Bodysculpt challenge over a six week period. Starting the following Tuesday. My wife has also vowed to join in, except I know that a hardcore No carb process of Bodyscuplt, will leave her desperately short of food options, however if I can get her into resistance workouts will be of benefit.

So in a nutshell, I lost focus, nutritionally, emotionally and physically and today is the day I kick-start again. The damage isn't great, but if I can drop five kilograms over the next six weeks, I certainly won't be mourning their loss.

Back Open: The Whole Story

Sunday January 16 and the above picture tells you what store looked like after 2.1m of water went through it with the Brisbane January floods. The floor is covered with inch thick sludge and mud, and the water has done amazing things to the pallets of my stock around the store.
